Editorial Workflow

CAP Editorial Workflow is structured to ensure a transparent, ethical, rigorous, and timely editorial evaluation process from manuscript submission to publication.

Contemporary Accounting Perspectives (CAP) follows a structured editorial workflow designed to ensure academic quality, editorial transparency, ethical compliance, and consistency in peer-review and publication decisions.

All manuscripts are submitted through the journal’s online submission system. Authors are expected to review the submission preparation checklist and ensure that their manuscript complies with CAP’s author guidelines, formatting requirements, ethical standards, and originality expectations before submission.

Editorial Workflow Overview

1
Submission by Author
The author prepares the manuscript according to the checklist and submits it through the online system.

Initial Screening by the Editor-in-Chief
The Editor-in-Chief evaluates scope, originality, ethical compliance, formatting, and overall suitability.
Desk Rejection
The manuscript may be rejected at this stage if it is outside the journal’s scope or does not meet basic scholarly, ethical, or formatting standards.
Assignment to Associate Editor
If suitable, the manuscript is assigned to an Associate Editor according to its subject area.
3
Preliminary Evaluation by the Associate Editor
The Associate Editor assesses academic relevance, methodological suitability, contribution, and reviewer suitability.

The manuscript may be rejected if it is not suitable for external peer review.

9
Issue Assignment and Publication
The final version is assigned to an issue and published online in accordance with the journal’s publication schedule.

Editorial Decision Points

At different stages of the editorial workflow, manuscripts may be rejected, returned for revision, or advanced to the next stage. Editorial decisions are based on the journal’s aims and scope, originality, academic contribution, methodological quality, ethical compliance, reviewer recommendations, and the overall suitability of the manuscript for publication in CAP.

Revision Process

When revisions are requested, authors are expected to submit a revised manuscript together with a detailed response explaining how each reviewer and editorial comment has been addressed. Revised manuscripts may be re-evaluated by the Associate Editor and, where necessary, sent back to reviewers for further assessment.

Language Editing and Production

Manuscripts accepted for publication are subject to language editing regardless of whether the authors are native speakers of English. This stage aims to improve academic clarity, consistency, terminology, readability, and compliance with the journal’s publication style. Following language editing, manuscripts proceed to copyediting, layout editing, proofreading, issue assignment, and online publication.
