Abstract

Purpose: This study examines accounting professionals' intentions toward the e-Ledger application, implemented by the Turkish Revenue Administration (TRA) during the digital transformation process, using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) framework.

Methodology: The research sample comprises accounting professionals working in Istanbul. The study collected data from 646 participants using both online and face-to-face surveys. The data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) in SmartPLS 4, and seven research hypotheses were tested. Reliability and validity analyses (Cronbach’s Alpha, composite reliability, AVE, Fornell–Larcker criterion, and HTMT) were conducted to confirm the model's robustness.

Findings: The results indicate that six hypotheses were supported, while one was rejected. All variables, except perceived behavioral control, have a significant direct effect on intention, with attitude toward use exerting the strongest influence. Perceived behavioral control was also found to indirectly and positively affect intention through attitude toward use.

Scope and Limitations: Due to time and population constraints, the field research is limited to accounting professionals operating in Istanbul and focuses exclusively on the E-Ledger application.

Originality / Value: The study contributes to the literature by revealing the direct and indirect mechanisms driving the adoption and acceptance of the e-Ledger application in the accounting profession.
